Jail for the Purdue Grade-bumper

Another key logger job. I wonder what else they did while they were logged in…?

Advent IM Security for Schools

A former student at Purdue University in Indiana, Roy C.Sun has been sentenced to 90 days of jailtime.

Three students managed to access the systems at the University and change their grades. This they did by using key loggers and possibly a replacement keyboard on staff computers. Once they had stolen the logon credentials and passwords they needed, they went on to change their grades. These incidents happened between 2008 and 2010.

Sun is the only one of the three to have been given a custodial sentence.

This is the third case of school or educational facility that has been breached by a student  (or in one memorable case – the student’s mum) attempting and succeeding in changing their grade.
